Timo est « le drôle de petit héros » d’une série de livres pour enfants parue chez Gallimard. Les textes sont d’Emilie Gillet et les photos de Cyril Entzmann. Timo est une grande souris en tissu que nous suivons dans son quotidien (au parc, à la mer …)
Après avoir étudié un des livres (ou la série !) en classe, le principe de photographier un personnage dans différentes situations peut être facilement repris avec de jeunes élèves, par exemple des maternelles pour décrire leur journée à l’école. Les objectifs d’une telle séance seraient à la fois un travail sur l’image et la représentation (comment résumer une activité en une image) et un moyen par exemple de s’orienter dans l’espace. Les élèves choisissent et mettent en scène une mascotte pour la photographier.
Plusieurs finalisations sont possibles : un petit livre, des images à exposer, éventuellement un jeu de cartes (paires d’images identiques ou paires image-mot pour les plus grands).
Exemples de thèmes à illustrer : la récréation dans la cour, travailler en classe, déjeuner à la cantine, faire du sport, lire à la médiathèque, mettre son manteau, prendre la voiture/le bus, regarder les poissons dans l’aquarium, etc.

Studying a book (or the whole series!) in class can be the start of a project with young pupils, for instance in kindergarden: the children can thus describe their day at school. The goals are not only to work on image and representation (how can an activity be summarized in only one image), but also as a means to apprehend their surroundings. The kids choose a mascot and stage it so as to photograph it.
This can lead to many outcomes: a small book, prints to exhibit in the hallways, or even a card game (identical pairs, or for older kids pairs composed of an image and a word)
Examples of situations that can be depicted: recess time, studying in class, having lunch, sports, reading in the library, putting on one’s coat, getting on the bus/a car, looking at the fish in the aquarium, etc.
